Summer’s a coming! Whether you like it or not, shorts will be necessary at one point or another so you might as well know how to pull off something other than khaki.
A lot of guys don’t seem to be big fans of shorts. Admittedly, they can be a bit awkward to style if you’re not in elementary school or at a Thom Browne Collection launch. Shorts are a great piece that can be done with ease if you do things properly. Here are the 3 steps to pulling off bold shorts.
Combine with a Solid
A great pair of patterned shorts are perfect for a summer BBQ or a day at the beach, but you want to be sure that you’re not overdoing it. Top off your outfit with a solid colored shirt if your shorts are patterned. It can be any type of shirt just be sure that it’s a complimentary, solid color or you’ll start to look a bit too loud.
Accessories play a big part in an outfit with bold shorts. They’ll help your look go from ‘Dad at the Yacht Club’ to ‘Stylish Beach Bum’. Don’t let yourself slip into the heavily preppy territory. There’s a time and a place for that but if you’re not about to play croquet, feel free to stack on some bracelets, a watch and a ring or two.
Jorts Are In Session
Like it or not, jean shorts are here to stay. Cut off, hemmed, long, short, all of them. As a very casual piece themselves, you should surround them with similarly casual pieces like tank tops, tee shirts and boldly printed button up shirts. Feel free to combine with a dress shoe, driving moc or a sneaker.
