This month I had the chance to take the brand new Audi TTRS on a little SoCal fall road trip. The first thing you need to know about fall in southern California is the leaves don’t change and it hardly ever rains. So when you take a “fall” road trip in SoCal you hop in the car and drive up the coast. I didn’t need to go far to experience the thrill of the TTRS. A quick trip to Malibu was all it took.
The first thing you notice when you get in the driver’s seat is a sense of power behind the wheel. Hop in and hit the start button and you hear all 400 horses ready to go. There is just something about the sound when you start a car that goes 0-60 in 3.6 seconds.
When I first saw this car I knew I had to get it on the open road. As much as I love living in downtown LA, with a car like this you need to get out of the city to truly experience what it was made for. I freed up a day in my schedule and decided to head up the coast to Malibu. Malibu is great because you get the long flat open stretches of road with the pacific ocean right outside your window and if you want, you can turn off and head up some canyon roads to really get a feel of winding roads and mountain views.
After getting on the road I decided to check out the Bang & Olufson sound system. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. I don’t know about you but when you’re behind the wheel of a 400hp sports car that has a mode called Dynamic Drive there’s really only one song to play, and that’s Congratulations by Post Malone (Comment the song you would put on repeat below!)
Now, I have been to Malibu many times but it’s always nice to have someone or something tell you where you’re going. I used the MMI touch controls to write in the location. Now when I say write, I literally mean I was able to write the letter on the touchpad and it would enter it on the screen!
All of this technology and power behind the wheel of the Audi TTRS makes for one hell of a ride. If you ever have a chance to take one of these bad boys for a test drive don’t pass up on the chance. From the fast, smooth ride to the amazing technology packed inside the cockpit, if you didn’t before, you will understand why you see so many Audi’s on the road.
