This year Lacoste is the official apparel provider of the PGA Tours’s Presidents Cup tournament at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, N.J. Lacoste will sponsor the biennial tournament through 2025. This marks the first time in Presidents Cup history that one brand has provided apparel for both the U.S. and International teams.
Lacoste unveiled the Presidents Cup uniforms at The PGA Show Merchandise Show last week and they won’t be released to the public until late August, but we were able to get our hands on a couple of uniforms to test out. With Blake and I being huge golf fans we were ecstatic to get one of the first looks at the new uniforms. When they arrived at our offices we knew we had to go test them on the course. And that’s exactly what we did.
Lacoste worked closely with Presidents Cup captains Steve Stricker and Nick Price to create their respective team’s uniforms. If you don’t know about the President’s Cup, it’s a prestigious team match-play competition between the U.S. Team and the International Team. The 2017 tournament will be held at Liberty National in Jersey City, N.J. from Sept. 25 to Oct. 1.
Lacoste’s Presidents Cup collection will be available for purchase starting in late August in Lacoste boutiques and on LACOSTE.com.
Most people know Lacoste as a tennis brand, but they have a rich sports and golf heritage. While Lacoste was founded by tennis legend René Lacoste in 1933, both his wife, Simone Thion de laChaume, and daughter, Catherine Lacoste, were champion golfers. Chantaco, the Lacoste family golf course, remains one of the most recognized clubs in France. Lacoste sponsors top golfers including Daniel Berger and Cristie Kerr.
After playing a quick 9-holes at The Monterey Park Golf Club we can say these are some of the most comfortable golf shirts we’ve worn and the players in the President’s Cup are going to look quite stylish come September.
