#MotivationMonday: Have You Tried a Monthly Workout Challenge?

A great way to challenge yourself and build a strong foundation.

If you’re someone who can’t seem to find time to workout, a challenge might be the answer. It’s a progressive system challenging you to perform a similar move every single day for a month. It’s not going to transform your body into fitness model status, but it will start to train your muscles to work on a regular basis and hopefully excite you to the potential of fitness success.

Regardless of what you would like to work, there’s a challenge that coordinates. If you’d like to build your upper body strength and size, do a pushup challenge. If you’d like to strengthen your core and legs, do a squat or lunge challenge.

The best way to start is at the beginning of the month (or anytime, just continue for 30 days). If you’re doing a lunge challenge, on day 1, do 10 reps on each side, then each day start doing 5 more reps per leg. By the end of the month you’ll be doing almost 300 lunges and your legs will thank you for it. It won’t build massive size, but it will create a functional strength that will aid in your posture as well as your overall health.

Your metabolism will also get a boost from this added exercise, as it will boost your heart rate and start to cause your body to burn extra calories. This means you could even lose a few pounds if you’re good about what you’re eating.

Ultimately it will look like this:

Day 1: 2 x 10 reps

Day 2: 2 x 15 reps

Day 3: 2 x 20 reps

So on and so forth each day. Also, if you’d like, you can switch up the style of lunge, squat, or pushup you’re doing each day so as to get a wider range of benefit.

Be sure to take a progress photo at the beginning of the month as well as at the end. You’ll be surprised by the results from such a small amount of activity.
